Feeding an Army

It wasn’t a real army, it wasn’t any real army at all. I lied.  The party was well equip to become their own army, if they wanted, it would have just been a 24 person army. Army or not, they are a group of great people. Jake was among this great group. Jake is a photographer, Jacobrobertsonknight.com. He is  also nice guy. I didn’t have to beg too much to get him to take some food pictures for me. The four pretty photos below are from Jake. The rest of them we from me and the little point and shoot I brought.

Here’s some food  details:

Chicken: 7 pounds of boneless-skinless thighs and breast marinated for 6 hours in olive oil, basil, parsley, chives, rosemary, mint, salt, pepper and white wine.

Veggies:  2 pounds of Asparagus, 1 pound of  mushrooms, half pound of mini-bell peppers, 5 zucchini, 5 yellow squash, 1 each red and yellow onion, all marinated in pesto and balsamic.

4 Loafs of french bread slathered with a roasted garlic butter.

28 Twice-baked potatoes, loaded with cheddar cheese and bacon.

Apple Pie-Bar recipe came from Food and Wine. It’s a great recipe. Lots of buttery crumb topping. Yum!

We also served ice-tea and fresh squeezed lemon-aid. It was very refreshing, especially being that the temperature was almost in triple digits.

They had that big’o grill pictured above. I want one. I would need really long tools to use it. That thing got really hot!! The meat had to be grilled so high up that I could look right under and see how far along everything was without flipping anything over.

All in all it was a great BBq and great people. I hope to do more events there sometime.
